About Bus Simulator Nepal

A 3D bus game set on Nepali roads, made by Ekendra Lamsal as a personal project.

How the routes are built

Butwal to Sunauli and Pokhara Lakeside follow the real roads at their real length, drawn from OpenStreetMap: the road line, the buildings where they stand, side roads, rivers and the names on shop boards. Lakeside also uses a terrain model for the hills around Phewa Lake. The Prithvi Highway is a shorter version of the real road with the towns in their real order, and Route 4 is a city laid out like Kathmandu.

Map data gives the shape of a road, not how it feels to drive. So the routes are checked against what the street really looks like. About 1 km of Lakeside Marg, from near Lake View Resort to the bazaar past Barahi Chowk, has been checked against photos taken on the street, and the kerbs, centre lines, the bazaar's cables and prayer flags and the compound wall were changed to match. Video footage of the routes is next.

Everything you see in the game is drawn by the game itself, and every sound is made by it. There are no photos inside it, so it loads fast and runs on phones.
